We Put Quality and Professionalism About Every Else
Sound Engineer
A sound engineer, or sound technician, sets up, operates and maintains all equipment that transmits and processes sound during a concert. They often work closely with a producer or stage technician to define a concert's specifications. This also helps them identify where to place microphones, speakers or cables to fully maximise a venue's acoustics. A sound engineer may pre-record audio that a band wants to use as sound effects during a show. Engineers also conduct sound checks before performances to make sure all equipment works and the audience can hear the music and vocals clearly.
Lighting Technician
A lighting technician maintains, sets up and operates the lighting at concerts. Their work usually begins well before a scheduled concert, as they will meet with a stage designer to discuss the staging plan and where each band member or instrument stands. Lighting technicians also work closely with sound engineers, deciding where to run cables and how to organise them; for example, when a show requires lighting for different sets. As part of their job, a lighting technician often operates a computer-controlled system, which helps them automate their work. They also take down and pack lighting equipment after concerts.
Stage manager
A stage manager oversees all activities on stage. They may also manage backstage activities, for example they might assign changing rooms to specific performers. Stage managers work closely with all members of the technical and production teams, as they're usually the final decision-makers in solving technical, operational or scheduling issues. In addition to working during concerts, stage managers attend all rehearsals, during which they create and improve stage plans and schedules.
Event Organiser
An event organiser, or event planner, coordinates all the moving elements of a concert. They prepare the venue, oversee the work of services staff and hire performers. The key purpose of this role is to handle all the logistics before, during and after a concert. For example, an event organiser might coordinate the shipment of equipment after a music show. It's also their responsibility to prepare and implement budgets.
